Just read Three men in a Boat by Jerome k Jerome , not what I expected, I had been dreading the book because when a book is feted as a comic Masterpiece i. It is normally
anything but . However this was a pleasure to read
Three men in a Boat, Montmorency and the Thames 8/10

Zola’s The Masterpiece or Ouevre. This is a depressing to read Lantier is Sacrifice the God of Art. Is lantier a great artist, do we believe in the 21st ,That producing great art is an existential struggle , and Zola as determined that Lantier will fail , we know from the start it will end badly 8/10

Completed Headshot by Rita Bullwinkel 7/10. Well written , not entirely convincing , and not all the Boxers came to life, But it was engaging and Touching , an intriguing glimpse into female boxing

read Colwill Brown’s We pretty pieces of Flesh it’s a very impressive debut , relentless in its portrayal with some gallows humorous interludesI, the ending is a masterstroke, memorable moving and satisfying. Shaz stands out as one of those great British characters : self destructive but Heroic

Having just read Death comes for The Archbishop , My first Willa Cather , I consider this Both Historic Fiction and A Western Novel , a bit surprised that The Civil War doesn’t Get a Mention. The War of Emancipation or Lincoln’s Death

Death Comes for The Archbishop , Very Short but densely packed so much to unpack,Immediate response 10/10, Faults yes,and reading Nearly a Century later and from my Perspective there is a lot to digest.I am going to miss The Archbishop and Beautifully realised harsh environment and its inhabitants

Entertaining Superior Historical fiction but George MacDonald Fraser isn’t the Author to unpack completely Toms life. The cards throughout Tom Molineaux’s aka Black Ajax life was stacked agin him, narrative thread that he was brought low his own flaws and not Racism and slavery is too convenient

Black Ajax By George MacDonald Fraser Author of Flashman Series , this is not Part of the series . Stand alone novel about the Noble Art of 1800s and The famous bouts between Tom Cribb and Tom Molineaux in period detail and Argot , celebrating the Pugilist 8/10
