I rejected that stuff when it first appeared on computer systems. I didn't need them in '94 when I ventured onto the internet and I don't need them now. As you say, the times I tried it, it never helped with anything.

I actually think it would improve play. Chip shots from range are generally more consistent and accurate than jump putts, in my experience. I started chipping three decades ago and never looked back.
