Love it. Perhaps you need to copy in our MP and the (New) Housing Secretary to focus their minds on the many more flats, and congestion, we are going to be penalised with. Oh, and not forgetting HCC Highways and it's total lack of ideas of how to deal with congestion?

Don't believe I said the next election was for the status quo; feel we have talked this dead.

The timescale shows elections in May 2027 for the shadow authorities.

So this sounds like the HCC stance (current political leadership) is Hertford is no more and of no interest to them but they are happy to make the traffic congestion worse because they need to spend money on a new Council chamber - how much is that I wonder? Roll on the next election.
August 11, 2025 at 1:15 PM
See this a reflection of Herts politics. HCC more focussed on spending on a new Council chamber in St'age than improving tfc flow through/around town or waiting for District reorg. Do they plan housing on Leahoe to cripple tfc at Hale Rd junc? Better to spend on tfc co-ord & flow reducing Qs speed

If that is the level of his mathematical skills Starmer needs to make him Chancellor

Seems the UK is moving towards the Trump model - those elected to represent the people, ignore the people, do not consult, and spend the people's money as suits them. Why not hold a consultation of the people from the (what was) 'county' town and others?
July 7, 2025 at 9:03 AM
How do these businesses survive with that amount of debt? Well this is the way Hertford is going - no longer a County town and more like an outpost of London where the way of life is changing daily and if you've lived here over 30yrs you feel a stranger.
June 21, 2025 at 8:42 AM
Well, firstly removing the reduced hours proposal for refuse sites and now this, seems we have some sense at last. Next - let's sort out why HCC moved from Hertford without having a firm plan and buyer and left us paying bills for TWO sites and, hopefully, improved security??
June 15, 2025 at 11:33 AM
Well not a surprise the Cons saw that as a way to save money and contribute to the 'fly tipping' that goes on. Congrats to the new Council in seeing some common sense. Why not reduce staff?

Trouble is we never see prosecutions for car theft, which I feel are on the increase, and we are now back to the garden thefts (again) and all I c are PCSOs dropping off what look like leaflets. There is no police presence in residential areas.
June 5, 2025 at 9:30 AM
A poor BBC article as it doesn't explain WHY it was proposed to put the site there, the security, traffic, etc, etc but does end with 'but the problem has not gone away'. These issues need proper, clear and open, discussion and HMG needs to lead.
June 4, 2025 at 9:25 AM
Seems drugs are becoming a daily problem in the town. Even walking the street you often pick up the smell from passers-by.
June 2, 2025 at 8:35 AM
Is the data behind this survey available eg numbers asked, region, whether in work/education/claiming benefit/living at home and family upbringing? I find the questions leading.
May 23, 2025 at 8:49 AM
This is a sorry state of affairs. HCC should be able to manage 'our' estate land better. Personally would like to see costs of move to Stevenage, and security - if you call it that - at Leahoe. Does anyone even have an idea of what happens next? This is our money and we deserve better management.

At the Horns Rd end of Wallfield Alley an exposed entrance had had a new panel installed and next door a fence that had been pulled away had been reset. That said I also feel much more needs to be done.
May 17, 2025 at 11:36 AM
I am pleased to see that HCC has been quick to improve some of the boundary fencing off Wallfield Alley along with a security presence. Am also aware of the concerns of local residents re the possibility of further issues on/around the site

Not exactly an exciting contribution to the town street scene but could contribute to the roll out of the fat jab?
May 9, 2025 at 2:58 PM
I allow my health data collection by a HMG database BUT it is guaranteed it is anonymised before being used for research. If I thought insurance companies were receiving it I would withdraw authority. This 'partnership' to me is not acceptable.
May 9, 2025 at 8:37 AM
Long gone are the days when the town offered a showing experience. Wonder how many will start to suffer and staff being reduced now their prices are rising.
April 18, 2025 at 10:56 AM
Surely HMG needs to look at a guaranteed number of pd Uni spaces in return for 4/5 yrs NHS service or pay back costs?

Q. How many of them are those opting for GP training and therefore surprised by a trainer?

Looks nice but where are the cars or the road works?

Can't understand if the level of violence across the World is increasing, media is highlighting it more, or we have very poor political leadership which is more for self promotion than the people they represent?
