And to be fair, I think the first two movies would have been better as mockumentaries about Pandora, the world *is* the main character in both of those

Besides, I mentioned the fan community because that's basically the thing that answered to all of the previous commenter's remarks
December 27, 2025 at 5:47 PM
Then you'd have to tell me what you consider as "having an impact on culture", because if something that

1. Impact how movies are made
2. Is regularly talked about
3. As its own subculture(s)

Have zero impact on culture, I don't know what would qualify as impacting culture

I'm not a fan of Avatar, but I can guarantee you that the answer to all of these is "yes".

Avatar has a rather lively fan community, they're just generally just minding their own business

One of the most common meme templates of early 2023 was from Avatar 2

Heck "avatar has no cultural impact" is an Avatar meme at this point

As I said my US numbers comes from.lists of theatrical releases, and I invite you to give number from whichever agency is responsible for official US audiovisual stats, I don't know which it is hence why I couldn't get their numbers, but i'd trust them more than mine
December 26, 2025 at 3:56 PM
And yeah you did mean the US, hence why I gave US numbers after giving non US ones, which showed not only that theatrical releases wasn't down, but it was actually up (obviously in the overall years it could still be down but you focused on November and so I did the same for fairness' sake)
December 26, 2025 at 3:54 PM
So you meant an apples stop apples comparison but one of the thing is an entirely different thing from the other (thus impossible) ?

Or you consider that taking the exact same method of counting for both years don't count as "apples to apples" ?
December 26, 2025 at 3:54 PM
So literally my argument: there's not less theatrical releases as you've said but they're less advertised
December 26, 2025 at 3:44 PM
It's a good thing then that I said it was *theatrical* releases.

And if you planned on not taking independent into account for whatever reasons then maybe saying it in the beginning could have been a good thing.
Or maybe at least saying why you decided not to count anything outside of the majors.
December 26, 2025 at 3:39 PM
Checking it myself in November 2019 the US seem to have an average of 9 new theatrical releases weekly, which was up to 12 in 2025.

Full transparency my countries numbers comes from the org that manages audiovisual stats, I don't know what is its equivalent in the US so I just picked a release list
December 26, 2025 at 8:16 AM
So only "major" studio releases count ? Because checking it on my side, November 2019 saw an average of 14 new releases each week, same kinds of number as 2025.

Again, no idea how it works in the us but a week with no new movies here would be incredibly weird

Batman don't kill people. Except for officer Gordon, which he kills slowly through lung and mouth cancer
December 25, 2025 at 9:07 AM
Iron blooded orphan is one of my favourite, it's self contained and rather short.
December 24, 2025 at 5:49 PM
Oh hey I just picked it up yesterday, neat little game so far I just like how straightforward it is
December 24, 2025 at 5:17 PM
TIL there's a PS1 version of aitd2.

I thought the only ps1 AITD was the new nightmare
December 24, 2025 at 5:02 PM
And then you've got dumbasses like me that totally agrees with that but when they'll get into something new they'll seek out "the first" and work in order, unless they're wholly distinct works (like final fantasy is for instance)
