"The Great Darkness Saga" from the 80s is a favorite of mine.
And there's a lot of Silver Age fun to be found in their Adventure run starting in issue 300.

*Dodo was introduced in the final scene of that serial, but it was Steven driving the plot for most of the story.

The first Doctor usually travelled with 2-3 companions. Sometimes a companion would be written out in one story with another introduced in the next.
To the best of my recollection, there was only one 1st Doctor story where he had only one companion*. That was Steven in "The Massacre".

Fun fact 2: There was serious talk about killing the character of Barbara off in this episode. Presumably from touching the pesticide laden seeds.
As an aside, I'd say this episode was a low point for Barbara. She's written so damn poorly here.
