BK NY, lawyer-ish, relatively new resident of Gowanus, local bluegrass guitarist, ORCAA guy, proud dad of 2 daughters and Graham the dog.
Their strategy is, and has been, to step on rakes. It’s what the base wants.

so sorry to hear that, Jody. must have been terrifying! I don't know how I'd handle it if that happened where my daughter is in school.

in order for state laws to be preempted, there has to be a federal law that overrides the state law. there isn't any such federal law and it's unlikely there will be under this Admin. if there were an actual unified federal law, then there could be a debate about whether it did enough on AI.

Also, the job market was pretty hot in 2033-2024, so I guess HB1’s weren’t an issue then. Why are they are a problem now?

And no wars

I like Lander a lot, but I feel like the NYC anti-Goldman people should be able to articulate why they dislike Goldman AND why people who previously voted for him will switch their vote.

don't like it. there's a good chance Lander won't win and seems like there are better targets for Lander to go after.

What would be the catalyst for stabilization or change in layoff rate?

a drawn out battle increases the odds that the AI bubble deflates before the acquisition is done, which would be bad news for Oracle and potentially Paramount.

more musicals sounds like a good thing though

it would be such a gift to the administration if the court does strike them down.

Also, based on what I’ve seen recently with the Comey prosecution, I wouldn’t be too confident that Bondi will be competent enough to protect the president. Lots that can go wrong for them

True. But the delay tactics are also what got him in this mess with the House vote. It’s possible that new delays will backfire and make MTG et al even more enraged. It seems like the president no longer has control of the situation.

So far, though, the president has announced investigations into top democrats. If the DOJ redacts or withholds information in the files relating to those democrats, I’m not sure how that will help the president. So I don’t think this is the trick that will help him
