What would they fill 8 episodes with, exactly? Stopped up toilets, guests going to therapy? They need to expand the narrative to give them something to do with the hotel long term. Viv and her team have no control over the number of episodes, which means they have to cut a LOT to appease Amazon.

Why focus on the hotel if there’s nothing noteworthy to show? The entire point of this season was to showcase how awful most sinners and Overlords truly are. It’s obviously a set up for Vox to eventually turn to Charlie for redemption. Without this season of context, it’d lack any weight.
