set the decimal value to whatever (mine is 50000)

if that key doesn't exist, you can create it (32-bit DWORD, decimal value)

reboot and it should stop being an issue (until you hit the new limit lol)

windows 10 added this really wonderful feature wherein your viewing settings for individual directories are hard-capped at a ridiculously low number for anyone that actually uses a computer, so as you open new directories, old ones will return to default

you can fix it via regedit.
