Never understood people being picky abt this. It’s a compliment and yes, even people who say you are so talented know you had to work for that talent. Colloquially most people mean it in the same way as skilled.

Omg, I love stuff like this! This is my oc Preston! He has a slight stutter and I always imagined he has kind of a raspy or nasally voice :] even just a simple hey what’s up !! Would be so cool! He’s got kind of a boy next door/Spider-Man kind of vibe.
