The 3rd stitch I want to show you is called whip-stitch. I like to match the angle of my stitches to the angle of the threads on the selvedge of the band so that they almost disappear.

The band I’m working with is called Hallstatt Triforce: www.tabletweavingintheoryandpractice.co.uk/2025/05/hall...

The next stitch I want to show you is called running stitch. It’s great for quickly sewing a band onto a garment.

Time to start sewing the trim onto this cuff! Apologies for the censoring in the captions.

The next few videos I publish will be about the stitches I use and where I place my needle. In this one, I talk about why I chose the colour of thread I’m using.

To ease a band around a curve, I sew running stitches through it with a strong thread and gently pull on it to get the band into the right position.

Apologies for the wobbly footage!

I find that working from the centre out gives me more control over placement than starting at the back of the neck and working round.

Once you’re happy with the shape of the V in your band, work a line of stitches and you’re ready to sew it onto the neckline of a garment!

The two bands in this video are Bulgarica and Hallstatt Triforce. fFree drafts for them are on my blog: www.tabletweavingintheoryandpractice.co.uk?m=1

When I need to sew a band around a corner, like for a garment with a V-neck, I plan out the fold ahead of time using a binder clip.

The bands I’m working with here are called Bulgarica and Hallstatt Triforce and you can find them for free on my blog: www.tabletweavingintheoryandpractice.co.uk?m=1

Today’s video focuses on how I prevent unraveling when I cut a band. The band featured here is called Hallstatt Triforce and the draft is available for free over on my blog: www.tabletweavingintheoryandpractice.co.uk/2025/05/hall...

Half of the sample bands for one of the books I’m working on are finished! The next one on the loom will be part of a gift and will involve monkeying around with a technique I don’t usually use, so I have some videos planned to share it with you.
