Storytelling, but with dice
I think my mind immediately jumps to the game Loneliness, by Jordan Magnuson.

It only takes a few minutes, and it’s free. And I think it’s undeniably art.

original post: Is there a term for the practice of over indexing a technology’s early flaws?

This happened with facial recognition technology; critics were still saying it didn’t work after it had gotten incredibly accurate. Seems like something similar may happen with gen AI and hallucinations.

I just saw someone who investigated facial recognition technology in its conception post something similar. We have an “anchoring effect” towards the first iteration of the technology that we see, and even if it becomes a scarier version later, people don’t tend to examine their own biases.

Your DM turns a big crank and damage numbers come out, then your DM uses their skills to narrate an exciting action scene. …or they just say “the wolf moves here and does three damage with a bite.” There is no “magic” involved.

With mutant genes-
I could be flying or psychic
Bones made of adamantium
Or superpowered beams coming from my eyes 🎵
I would monologue and tell my team there was nothing
That we couldn’t overcome
(And then I’d pro’bly be the first to die)

Norman Boutins, of course, spent twenty years writing Empress Theresa, so they are the exception. All of their review replies are totally justifiable.

(This is sarcasm)
