Anyone in the #mycology part of Bluesky know what on earth this eldritch horror is growing in an old cemetery? Coworker got jumpscared by it the other day and I’m wildly curious.

This game is fun but also sometimes I want to gnaw my keyboard in half.

Astarion over here setting new records for beefing it at lock picking.

My bee balm managed a single flower. Not bad for having gotten hit with herbicide in spring (thanks asshole neighbor).

Dumb plant nerd joke:

World is so stressful that antidepressants are starting to grow in the yard lol

I love lady’s slippers. They’re uncommon here and it’s always a treat to see them. Got a better starflower photo today. They’re small, about palm-sized plants. Really pretty. I’ve never noticed them in bloom before, so I have a new appreciation for them. ^..^

Went for a long walk in the woods today. Found a bunch of new forest floor species I hadn’t seen on the trail yet this year.

Northern starflower (Lysimachia borealis), Pink lady’s slipper (Cypripedium acaule), wild sarsaparilla (Aralia nudicaulis), and striped wintergreen (Chimaphila maculata).

Reason number 1636372 to not plant Bradford pear trees. A mildly windy day was enough to snap this invasive, stinky bastard right in half.

Attempting some winter seed sowing. We’ll see if it actually works. I’d nothing else, I’m sure the butterfly weed will sprout great and then lose its shit when I put it in the ground. >:[

Went to visit my uncle last week, and my plane flew right over the Grand Canyon, Zion National Park, and Bryce National Park. It was very cool.

Witch hazel flowers. I love these little end of season fireworks.

Went to Haunted Overload for a work gathering on Friday. It’s supposed to be terrifying. But I was so caught up with the craftsmanship that I didn’t register a single jump scare. My coworkers think I have nerves of steel now, but it’s just that I got too deep into Maker Brain.

Some of the lovely creatures making a home in my yard. I adore them.

Pictured are a spotted salamander, a very tiny baby common garter snake, a spicebush swallowtail caterpillar, and a spring peeper.
