I love music videos. Their abstract, short form story telling has more in common with my favorite media then a lot of other things. Creepy Nuts does dembow (a Dominican rap genre) justice in Japanese with this incredible video.

We hold our own under water, and when we reach out for support outside of our network people wonder why we're struggling so much. When we grow we're torn apart by our own internally.

Weeks after getting my 1st job at a big game studio, my mother called to ask for financial support for my father's step children.

My girlfriend and I haven't even started our own family, she's only helped us once with a move, never financially. And the reward for achieving my dreams is paying her.

That behavior likely comes from growing up in a family with low trust and financial stability. Growing up my account was tied to my dad's if he over spent the money would be withdrawn from my account.

A lot of us are taught to expect family to take from you, and that it's "Part of being in the fam"

And @ironstarbright.bsky.social for what it's worth I'm a Dominican man, college educated, blue voter through and through. My girlfriend is supporting me while I'm trying to start my business. No ego here, she's the breadwinner, I'm lucky to have her.

I hear that, there's a lot of machismo in our culture and it's fucking awful. Hispanic men are like men of any culture, they care about their egos. I'm certain your sister is incredibly kind and loving to continue to provide grace to the kind of man that doesn't want to admit to math out loud.
