So the dme place's own assessment was actually that I need a chair that reclines/tilts. Now Im just trying to get the car chair lift to be covered somehow so I can proceed to getting the chair haha

Yeah its all really confusing. I actually had to call around and ask some places that accept DME to help me with figuring out what to even do. The dme place that I am going with seems to do all the custom fitting and whatnot. My script did say power chair, but dme place went through an assessment

So I think the "where to send it" is to your insurance as well as to the medical equipment place you will use. The "what to write" is like other prescriptions as far as I know, I think it just requires medical necessity and documentation of like why/notes to back it up

My pcp legit just wrote one. The actual fun part for me has been trying to jump through hoops/play phone tag with DME to get it. Im over a year into the process at this point x-x

Also the old "do you have trauma? List in detail who traumatized you and the exact events" (mind you theres only two lines given and some random person will read this 🥲)

Truly. I'm at the point that I'm looking into a car power chair lift, and it's like double the price of the power chair itself 😭 things aren't accessible when the people that need them can't afford them

I am so sorry you had this person in your home. You should never have been touched like that, and also what are you really supposed to do when someone's in your house to help you do vital things and ranting and raving about things a nurse should not be? You're still reliant on them, uncomfy or not:(

I too am a former foster kid and I am definitely gonna be reading that purely due to the title, thanks for the recommendation ^^

Exactly this. The one thing I have that helps one of my worst chronic conditions is getting 3x weekly fluids. It took me 3 years of vomiting upwards of 20 times a day just to get a single doctor to look at me like I wasn't an addict or drug seeking and help me. I avoid ER because they still do it.
