Justice is how a democracy remembers.

We failed at this in the past as a country, many times. The most salient I think is the failure of Reconstruction following the Civil War, and the failures to hold industrialists accountable during the Gilded Age. More recently, there were Iran-Contra, Halliburton, torture/black sites, and the GWOT.

Past history...Germany and Yugoslavia required intervention from outside for that accountability. South Africa managed to do it themselves. We absolutely cannot move forward in the name of "national healing and unity".
