Dad. Husband. Boonie dog parent. Geek.
Airman. Civil Air Patrol.
Took the youngest to see the Goonies at the Alamo Drafthouse. Clearly, I am not an embarrassment.

Started off the new year with one of my favorite knife builds. Got to use my new scroll saw and am really happy with how it came out. Im not much of a leatherworker, but I am pretty happy with the sheath too.

This weekend’s projects. On the left, it’s bar stock with bloodwood scales. On the right, a cut down file for the blade with resin scales.

My 14 y/o’s friend made this record and it’s pretty great. Just good, instrumental, kinda metal, atmospheric background music. Believe it’s on Spotify as well as Apple. He really appreciates new listeners…give him a shot if you will.

My son visited the Navy recruiter today. Brought his USAF dad, in uniform, and wore his Army JROTC t-shirt…. Got a chuckle out of that. He’s interested in going Nukes…if anyone on here has experience, I’d love to hit you up for some info.

New knife build, first one posted here. Tried to make one styled after the Starfield combat knife. Came out ok. I like the Micarta scales. First time using them.

Proud of my big guy. This past weekend, he bought his first car (with some help, but not a lot), got his SATs complete and applied to colleges. His essay on being a resilient military kid was awesome. He’s come a long way and been though a lot. It’s been amazing to watch him grow. Love this dude.

If you happen to be at AFA this week, CAP has a booth there. Through CAP, folks can get private pilot licenses, become Emergency Services trained, and a number of other opportunities. It’s a great place to get your kids involved and around a group of motivated kids.

If you are a parent of a 12-18 year old, looking for a positive activity either for just them or the both of you, consider the Civil Air Patrol. My son joined it a few years back and it was a really positive experience for him, leading me to decide to join as well. Great opportunities and people.
