The subsequent Tribunals lead by the US brought 3887 cases though about 3400 were dropped. 489 cases went to trial, involving 1672 defendants. A total of 1416 of them were convicted; under 200 were executed & 279 got life the rest got shorter terms. By the 1950s almost all of them had been released.
