i'm not sure of the origin - i know it was used on pins & protest signs back in the 1970s-80s to promote lesbianism, but has also been adopted by the trans community, cuz really it fits all of us.

7. BLOOD DINER (1987) - This isn’t a TCM ripoff, it’s proudly a BLOOD FEAST ripoff, but I’m counting it due to the shared themes of familial cannibalism (plus the actual TCM ripoff I watched was boring). This is a fun splatter film with lots of tits. Doesn’t take itself seriously. Female director!

6. SOUTH MILL DISTRICT (2018) - Just some real fun, no-budget, papier-mâché, stop-motion, ooey-gooey, sticky-icky stuff. Just some real classic homemade stuff! Not a greatly compelling plot, but the effects are creative. I'll definitely come back to check out the other three shorts in the series.

5. THE WITCH WITH FLYING HEAD (1982) - The title is misleading, because she's not a witch, she's cursed BY a witch. But boy, her head sure does fly - with the dangling spine & viscera still attached. I watched this on YouTube in tragically low res, so I'll just show you this sick poster instead.

4. IN THE DARKNESS (2018) - A group of students go to a remote forest location said to be the site of supernatural occurrences, & you’ll never guess what happens! Technically fine, this is just a collection of 2000s-era tropes. There’s simply nothing new or interesting going on here. But nice try?

3. OCCULT (2009) - The director plays himself as he is drawn into a cosmic mystery. This is a real slow burn that starts off feeling predictable but then slowly builds to an almost unbearable tension. Then they get straight-up silly with it & I loved that. Imaginative & delightful.

2. EXISTENZ (1999) - Cronenberg's anal (& I don't mean neurotic) meditation on video games & the erosion of reality. Like most Cronenberg films, I didn't understand 90% of what was happening, but that doesn't mean it wasn't a fun ride. But I found Leigh's wooden performance to be distracting.

got this vulture hat recently at a garage sale & it instantly became my favorite hat because it's true, i love vultures. so here i am on my trip with 2 different guys from my hat (andean condor at the san francisco zoo & turkey vulture at wildlife safari in winston, oregon).
