TIL that Google groups will sever its Usenet connection, finally winding down what started with the acquisition of DejaNews... Another Google thing going the way of the Dodo.

Posting and subscribing will be disallowed, and new content from Usenet peers will not appear. Viewing and searching of historical data will still be supported as it is done today.
