Breaks my heart how modern hyper-vigilance has led to a cultural shift towards casual cruelty as a means of self-protection. Trying to talk about it leads to commentary about how no one owes each other anything.

3rd in my group for NYC Midnight's Rhyming Story challenge! I had a few clunky rhymes in there that I was worried about, very relieved that the piece was strong enough for the judges to overlook those parts. Onward to Round 2!

Dreamt I found a device that could fast-travel the holder to whatever coordinates they selected on a map. Ended up speeding off to Nashville, TN over the course of a few blurry, confusing minutes. Met @jasonkpargin.bsky.social, got to Beta read for him 👀
