I kinda checked out when Mulder and Scully found evidence that his sister had been cloned by the government, just to have that episode where Mulder thinks a serial killer was the one to take her and that he imagined all the alien stuff to cope as a kid just a few episodes later.

The monster of the week type episodes were always the highlight of the series, every time they'd get back to the main overarching plot it would just turn into SUCH a slog 😩
