I knew someone that claimed to earn their living via sports betting. They’re placed bets sure, but lived off their wife’s pay check, and was an asshole. They’re dead now, of covid, which they insisted didn’t exist. So I guess there’s a demographic for that ad.

That runtime loads/runs a model from a file of one of a few known formats (e.g. GGUF) which contains metadata, key value pairs, etc to point to code at $data.

I could understand “model files are too large and complex to arbitrarily modify, untangle the heritage of various data points, etc”

I think it depends on the org to be honest. I’ve definitely seen that be the case, especially in more “traditional” org structures. But I’ve also seen companies with a distinct engineering career track that goes right up to very senior levels for those who want to be senior and hands on.
