Dr. Bosch will be honored during an annual multi-day visit to the One Health Microbiome Center, where he will deliver two public lectures celebrating his contributions spanning the role of microbes in development, evolution, neurobiology, immortality, and cancer.

Bosch has been instrumental in the development of holobiont biology, which views hosts plus their microbiome as structural and functional units in the hierarchy of life. Bosch’s scholarship decisively revealed an ancient, elemental unity of life between the visible and microbial worlds

The inaugural 2025 recipient is Dr. THOMAS BOSCH, who has played one of the most formative roles in the field as a thought leader and experimental maestro. He is the author of over 180 papers and 3 books, a German National Academy of Sciences member, and senior professor at Kiel University.
