i've been going back to these illustrations to retouch them
cooked the meat of them to absolute perfection but the seasoning doesn't agree with me anymore

I wanted Mable's look to be edgy, fierce and all about the boots. I tried to keep her skirt as well, but it was just too many shapes in too many different directions. So I went with this minimalist (...in terms of silhouette, at least) "tape" design with the goal of really emphasizing the boots

Celosia's original design is the daintiest and most elegantly minimalist of the scientists, so I have her this chic suit jacket minidress. She also originally has the distinctive black tights, which I reimagined as a fullbody mesh bodysuit with the F logo print

Original Bryony has the same tall boots as Mable, so I wanted her to have some kind of big shape around her legs too. But I wanted to avoid having two boot-centric looks, so I reimagined the boots as a wide pant instead. The rest of her outfit kind of just fell into place by itself

I tried to maintain how Aliana has the girliest, cutesiest design of the scientists. Her original outfit also has the distinctive yellow tights, so I wanted there to be a fuck-off huge blob of gold somewhere on her (this ended up being her corset)

I decided to make the scientists' color scheme red&gold as an upgrade from the grunts' red&black, because obviously gold equals status. I also tried to incorporate the F logo "natively" into each of their outfits, and also keep, but reimagine the neckwear they have in their colors

The idea with the grunts is pretty self-explanatory: they needed to be simple but fashionably striking. I think the way I have their jacket lapels do the F logo ended up being a good way of achieving this, thank you queens of drag race season 14

From the word go I knew that this "liquid organza" fabric would be like the backbone of this whole project, cause it's flashy and loud, but also has a futuristic, almost otherworldly appearance (and i actually, for some unfathomable reason, tried to shade it by hand at first, like a dumbass)
