If your friend wants to try out a specific engine, their discord servers are great! GameDev Content Creators servers are also great and they could be friendlier if they're moderated correctly. Finding people that can help you and you can help back feels great for self esteem and feeling of belonging

Gamedev discord servers may be best for this, they boost my motivation at times when working on games! They can be quite condescending at times, and feel strict with the rules for their chats, but they're usually nice, at least the ones I'm in
