The SCIP Lab had our inaugural lab retreat yesterday. It was much needed, and these students inspire me. Among other things, we did some team building during an escape room challenge!

Out in Social Psychology of Education: Meike Bonefeld and her colleagues successfully validated a German version of my Bias Awareness scale among German teachers. They assessed awareness of biases toward "people with migration background." Super interesting! link.springer.com/article/10.1...

Given the history of the Transatlantic Slave Trade and the awful ish that happened on US plantations, I continue to be baffled by this question (required if you want to submit demographic information to Manuscript Central and several societies). I feel a surge of anxiety and anger every damn time.

When we asked parents why they were not discussing racism with their children, they cited reasons like wanting to shield their child from the reality of racism or a belief that racism was irrelevant to their child’s life. 4/N
