You see the thing is they never named what this between an angel and a demon was that, not in so many words, just always around each other, orbiting gently, pretending they didn’t need to say the obvious.

No… they never talked about it, nor brought it up. But somewhere in Aziraphale’s celestial existence, he perfectly under stood the ‘best friend’ was referring to him, even he politely replied ‘I’m so sorry to hear that’.
