Game dev, gamer, tech tutorial writer and unpublished fiction writer.

Lover of Bioware style RPGS, niche deep indie games, curiosity, cool art, positive vibes and dogs.
I’ve been mostly off social media for around a year, plus I couldn’t reset my twitter password without junping through ridiculous hoops - so its been great! Vibes here are fantastic and actually have me willing to engage, which is wild.

How has it been for you?

The path to success comes through failure!

I’ve been doing the same, although very little blender do far. Its a wonderful, if sometimes frustrating, journey.

Ohhh, a dyslexic friendly font option too, even if just a toggle.

Don’t launch straight into game not letting people change settings first, either.

Subtitles or other visual aids for audio cues, ability to change volume of ambience/music/speech/etc independently, ability to turn off things like speed lines, head bob and motion shake, colorblind friendly colors, rebinding controls and controller/keyboard support, to name a few.

That's the best I can come up with, anyway, with how I've used them.

The language you typically use? Its like looking up a word in the dictionary you can't quite remember the meaning of, or there's a new episode of your favorite show and you want to see what's changed and stay updated.

Changing programming languages? Its like a Spanish speaker looking up words in Italian. The two are very similar, but different enough that you can get caught up on something small, so you look it up to make sure you have it right/see how the other language does it.

Hm. That's tough and has a lot of "it depends".

New to programming? Its the part of the cookbook that explains sautéing vs frying vs baking. Spatulas vs spoons. Its a resource to understand the basics.

Don't know where to start? Write down what you want. Break it down into pieces. And do that first, tiny piece. Then the next. And the next.

Soon, you'll be on your way to making that thing.

The first step is always the hardest. You got this.

Congrats on getting the game done and released! Its no small accomplishment.

Steve Lee has some great videos - I've used them to help me get started with level design, and they've helped a lot.

I've an analytical mind that loves puzzles and patterns - perhaps I just need to leverage that more. Maybe I'll find more tips in his other videos. Thanks for the suggestion!

If it’s an rpg, it doesn’t get put down until it’s beaten 1.75 times.

Any other game and i just rotate depending on the mood. Right now i have 5 im playing through while waiting for the next rpg drop.

1. Maybe monthly. Depends on what I’m working on.
2. Looking up how a feature works, looking for implementation examples, looking to see what’s available
3. Language docs. Such as python.org or swift.org
Welcome to Python.org

On my Mac (primary machine), on the right of my off monitor.

I'm not on Windows much these days but there's something weird about using their taskbar anywhere other than the bottom to me.

Auto hide is always on, though, for both OSes. Maximum space acquired!

I haven't heard of any of them before. Zero Escape and AI: Somnium look really interesting though. I'll have to add them to my list. Thanks for sharing!

Still valid! Theres a lot of RPGs out there but never feels like enough to me. In my case it’s finding the specific ones that scratch all the itches that really makes me want more.

What are your top adventure games?

Its not sustainable and incredibly demoralizing for people to have to deal with. Such a terrible shift.

Job descriptions are supposed to be a "wish list" for the company, and you can and should apply anyway, but they are nuts anymore - especially for junior roles.

They're just telling us how they view their workers when their wish for juniors is essentially to have a senior working at junior pay.

That combat looks like it's got a good feel. Nice impact! Great work.
