So basically, use UE4 not UE5?
The problem is that they were telling devs and studios "just throw unoptimised meshes into UE5, it'll run perfectly!" And similar statements for the other systems. Obviously that's going to cause managers to not budget time for optimising, it's not supposed to need it.

That's the thing, isn't it? It's not like the rest of the world will say, "Oh phew, now that that's over everything will go back to the way it was," after the current administration is out of the picture. It's going to be a long uphill struggle before usa can get any of the lost goodwill back.

Yellow paint for hand holds on buses, trains, ladders, on the edge of the steps of staircases. That's some of the places where it was used in the real world as an accessibility feature long before it showed up in Mirror's Edge.

Though making the whole staircase yellow is new…

It was edited down about an hour or so ago. So are you able to bootleg the second half somewhere for those who missed it? 😀

As a developer you it's easier to enjoy your own game when it's procedural. A common recommendation is that you should make a game you enjoy first and foremost, and it's just easier to do that when you don't know what's coming next.

Unepic has a similar mechanic. There it's leeches and they both deal damage over time and fill up your inventory slots. Removing them is just a matter of trying to pick them up.

You don't have any damage sound effects or reactions, so unless you're paying attention…

I think TDD/BDD is a good way to learn it. Test/Behaviour Driven Development.

Where you write a unit test first to define what you need, then solve it with the least code that works. Then you finish by refactoring and removing duplicate code.

NIH - Not Invented Here. It's an antipattern where you distrust code you've not written. Worst case I personally saw was when we were hired to review and verify a codebase for functionality and they had rewritten a class from the language to do less with lots of edgecases it failed at. For no reason

I think you do. You just need to tone down your inner critic and not judge your ideas so harshly…

I think the difference there is that you wouldn't think everyone agrees about Pokemon being the best thing ever just because everyone on the pokemon fansite agreed. If everyone seems to agree on a social media though it's easier to think you're actually right because you don't see the echo chamber.

Especially when you consider that he expected everyone to go along with the website rename while he himself refused to use the right name for his child.

There's a fine line between genius and insanity.

Not for chicken marmalade though, that's well and truly crossed the line I'm afraid.

The node tree isn't a necessity, you can work directly with the lower level interfaces if you prefer.

You might be more interested in a gaming or UI library over that of course, but it is an option and would strip away most of the abstractions.

Yet somehow people weren't concerned about media being split back when each outlet had their very own newspaper or magazine. I think people will be able to look at more than one website just fine.

Wasn't just print either, just look at IRC/Discord/Blogs/etc.

I'm curious, would knowingly withholding evidence of neonaticide be a case of Harboring, Accessory, or Co-Conspiracy?

Because it seems like she should really go to the authorities with such evidence. And since she hasn't…

The memory upgrade is a good idea, and generally very cheap. The rest is fine for a long time unless you're planning on playing a lot of bleeding edge games in the coming years.
