the idea it's "rude" to answer phone any way other than typical greeting is OUTDATED. the access to sensitive information was so much smaller a few decades ago. there was a much lesser chance of your voice getting stolen and used by 3rd parties. etc, etc. protect yourself best you can. 💖 6/5 (oops)

some calls that seem sus ARE actually legit. but! you ARE CORRECT to be sus! consider looking up unknown numbers afterward to see if they link to a legit thing & call them back if you think they'd actually be helpful for you. your SAFETY is MORE IMPORTANT than societal niceties. 5/5

BUT if you just hang up, we WILL call you again. also can't accept recordings saying do not call or wrong number. we HAVE to hear a real life person say it. if after you say wrong number they still try to speak w/you, block number (probably sales). 4/5

upon revealing their ID, if you don't want to interact w/them, say they have wrong number. can't say if true for ALL callers: in my job standard is remove wrong number from profile. even if we KNOW person IS the person we want to reach; we take words at face value & remove number. 3/5

answer unknown numbers w/"who this?". is a quick way to not only NOT reveal YOUR identity but also make caller hang up or reveal THEIR identity. & is harder to steal/use your voice in a useful way. repeat if they say hello/ask for name. make them tell you who they are before give ANY info/convo. 2/5
