On the left is my uncle — a journalist and pro-democracy organizer in Bangladesh. He’s protesting the murder of a colleague. BD faces a serious problem with journalist killings, yet he still risks everything to speak out. We’re proud to carry on our family’s fight for labor and democracy worldwide.

Our movement for Workers’ Rights is an international struggle. I’m proud to have first earned my stripes years ago talking to blue collar workers on the US-Mexico border years ago after college.

It is honor to be back after 3 years to celebrate Mexican Independence Day. Thank you for everything.

GM is the employer for 50,000 unionized American workers. I feel a great sense of pride getting behind the wheel of my truck everyday and knowing that it was built/assembled by the hands and tools of my brothers and sisters.

The most patriotic thing that we can do is to buy American-made.

The best argument against vouchers is the clear reality that this policy has failed every single time it’s been implemented.

Growing up, everyone told me that if I didn’t work hard and follow my big brother into medical school, I’d end up on some construction site covered in dust. To those people I say: fuck you— that was just a lucky guess

¡VIVA LA HUELGA!

Philadelphia teachers are preparing to go on strike if management refuses to hear our members’ needs!

The DeSantis Admin attempted to bust up the faculty union at Florida State. That attempt has officially FAILED. Congrats to our union siblings on sticking with their union!

We’re celebrating one year since Stephanie’s homecoming from serving our country’s interests in the Civil War in Haiti.

Stephanie joined the Army after graduating high school. In her role as a Combat Medic she’s cared for soldiers in their most desperate moments.

I am grateful for every moment.

I join my brothers and sisters of the SMART- TD Union in their skepticism regarding the announcement of Union Pacific’s acquisition of Norfolk Southern.

I join them in urging all relevant regulatory agencies to review this proposed merger and the impact it would have on American freight rail.

I’m deeply saddened to hear of the passing of NYPD officer Islam who was murdered in the line of duty last night while responding to a mass shooting. He leaves behind 2 young kids and a wife who is 8 months pregnant. This is a tremendous loss for our Bangladeshi American community.

DeSantis tried to bust the teachers union in Lee County, FL—my hometown. He failed. I grew up in a union household, went to Lee County public schools, and my mom still teaches there. Come for teachers’ unions, pay, or healthcare—and you’re in for the fight of your life.

This next term is likely International President McCarron’s final term leading the Carpenters Union. I’ve clashed with these guys plenty of times in my life—but no one doubts their toughness or their willingness to call out government overreach, no matter who’s in charge.

Victory!

The employees of New Foundations Charter School K–8 campus voted overwhelmingly—76% in favor—to affiliate with @aftpa.bsky.social.

This is a powerful testament to what an organized workforce can achieve. I’m proud to stand beside these amazing educators.

Next stop: a fair contract.

A piece of my family’s more recent labor history. In Lee County blue collar city workers are represented by the IUPAT. Teachers are represented by the AFT-NEA. My mom was a member of both unions.

I grew up to be an organizer and a proud second generation member of both IUPAT and AFT!

Happy Mothers Day! In the second photo you can see my grandad and his mom. My grandad was a union leader in pre and post independence Bangladesh. His mom was a strong supporter, often cooking meals for protestors.

They’ve both passed on. God rest them. They’re inspirations for my mom and I today!

It’s Teacher Appreciation Week. Our union (AFT) represents almost 2 million members. Most are teachers. My mom, Ms. Irene as a she’s known in the classroom, is a PreK/K teacher and a 25 year union member of the AFT-NEA in FL.

She is my inspiration to aggressively advocate for education workers.

The thing about living under an authoritarian leader is that they lie about everything. Some of those lies are bound to be funny.

According to the White House’s doctor President Trump and I are exactly the same height and weight lol.

The US-backed puppet gov in El Salvador has said that they will continue to imprison SMART local 100 member Kilmar without trial, indefinitely.

Whether it takes months, years, or the rest of my life; I will continue to talk about and demand answers for our brother who was disappeared by the state.

Vance is lying. Abrego Garcia has no criminal record. He has legal rights to work/live in the US. They are slandering the good name of our brother to cover up that they deported an innocent husband, father, and our union brother to a Salvadoran mega prison.

Bring our brother home.

Happy Caesar Chavez Day! I first became labor organizer on the farms in South Texas and construction sites in Georgia thinking I’d be just like him. In those days I barely spoke any other language.

His message gave me purpose, to fight for all blue-collar immigrant families like my own.

Ted Cruz’s kids go to St. John’s in Houston where tuition is 37k. He is pushing a policy that will literally give himself a discount by diverting money from Houston area public schools.

Vouchers are reverse trickle down economics. The same folks pushing vouchers benefit from them the most.
