Children are constantly monitoring sentencing laws in the mainstream press, and as rational actors, this will definitely make them think twice before offending.

Anyway, I get it, you don't like the new law. Tim thinks it's ok. You disagree with him having an endorsing thrust in his op-ed. You think it's worth pointing out that Tim's employer gets funding from corporations. I think that was not done in a nice way. Thanks for the chat.

Has it not already made it's mark? They are changing in response to the regulation, isn't that a mark? Yes, if you talk to him he thinks it is a net positive piece of regulation. Many others also think that. Many others also think it is net negative.

I just had another look. I haven't asked, but from my experience authors don't write headlines. In his article he doesn't say it is "working" or a "success". Those words are not even in his article text. Rather he says "already begun to change the online media landscape".

Sorry I thought you were suggesting that he or his work is influenced by funding from IMB and Google. That would be a pretty clear attack on his integrity if that is what you were doing.

You think it was breathless? I didn't get that.

Hi again, I just checked, apparently I need to work harder for my Google/IBM cut. Also, the main point of the article is that "self-regulation" doesn't work without actual "regulation". Hope that helps.

Ha! I like your skepticism. Tim's also a personal friend of mine. So maybe I'm also rolling in Google and IBM $ because I shared it 😅. Ok, you attacked the man, now try attacking his argument. The child-focused policies are the proof, right? That's what he is saying? Would they have them otherwise?

I know search is dead. But somehow I am still using Google search and DuckDuckGo search. So what gives?

"Real Journalism" isn't dead though, is it? It just evolved

What is or isn't journalism is a tangled mess that I am trying to iron out. My definition of (public interest) journalism sets a high bar. Most of the news media out there does not reach it.
