I’m not the best with waterfowl but based on other photos this may be a tufted/scaup hybrid. Those barred feathers on the shoulder don’t seem to be found on the tufted duck but greater/lesser scaups don’t have a dark flank like this one…so maybe it’s both! Very cool bird!
