Retired, Grandmother (don't let that fool you), ex- Swiss resident, leftist, consumer of fascinating information. Sorry no DMs
It was my husband's 80th birthday yesterday, and he had The Letter shortly before. We have had so much pleasure the last couple of weeks planning how to spend our extra bonus each month. The sky's the limit - just wait another 3 years and I'll be able to contribute my 25p as well!

Not really a celeb, but Simon Reeve is always interesting and doesn't make the programme about him.

Done a couple of weeks ago; didn't feel a thing. Forgot all about it the next day.

I always assume that if I haven't heard anything by the next day, everything's OK.

Maybe you should get back to X. You seem more at home there.

They're worth a visit though! My small sons had stories told them sitting in the caves at dusk - wonderful!

Takes me back to living in Los Alamos and the long route round to Albuquerque. Jemez and Bandolier are magical places!

If you have been speaking it all your life, I assume you have A level standard English if you are working at a sufficiently high level to need the communications skills required. If not, then an adequate English to communicate easily. So don't pack your bags yet.

I am embarassed to say I have little idea what it's about. I asked my husband, who likes to read about these things, and he had little idea either! This is a pure example of the Westminster/media bubble. Nobody else has any interest, but all we'll get is interminable analysis.

It wouldn't, that's why this has nothing to do with literature.

The lower ones are Basic and Advanced, which are pretty well explanatory.

My guess is that they are using the Cambridge Exams in English, which I used to teach. The Proficiency level (the highest) was considered appropriate for Uni entrance. Reading comprehension, essay, listening, speaking. It's a high standard, which I'd guess many native speakers would struggle with.

One food that you refuse to eat. One movie you'll never watch again. And one song you can't stand.

Tripe

Walked around our local park a couple of days ago, and the number of conkers just lying on the ground was heartbreaking!

Somebody seriously bored with their job.

This was Shrewsbury, and unfortunately, Shrewsbury is not representative of Shropshire. Believe me, I live in the north of Shropshire.

Just came on here to say the same thing. Curses, foiled again!
