Now that the 4th of July, I think I can say that it's hard to celebrate the history of your country when its electorate just reelected the greatest threat to our country in our country's history. Also, the Big Ugly Bill just passed which will be devastating to so many Americans.

I sort of thought that Turkey could serve as the illiberal democratic model for the United States, but that has now changed. The mayor of Istanbul has been arrested. If we are not careful, Trump might start trying to arrest state and local officials. Then, federalism will be dead.

I sympathize with Mahmoud Khalil. However, I also feel like I have to say "I told you so" to those voters who abandoned Harris over Gaza. Absolutely unforgivable when Harris was running against a fascist who is the greatest existential threat to the United States at least since the Civil War.

Trump is Big Brother. Similar to in Orwell, he wants to divide the world into three empires constantly at war or detente with each other, depending on the week: Oceania (us), Eurasia (Russia), and Eastasia (China).

I really wish the 25th Amendment could be invoked, but if Mike Pence was unwilling to do it after January 6, 2021, J.D. Vance will not do it under any circumstances.

I have asked some Trump voters on Quora whether they would support Trump getting a third term regardless of whether it is achieved through illegal and/or unconstitutional means. I am heartened so far to hear that almost all of them don’t think Trump should run again, at least because of his age.

If many people start dying directly because of 47 decisions, I do not know if I can ever forgive MAGA voters. Cutting NIH funding will especially have life or death consequences.
