Love the Habs, Red Sox & Patriots! I have spent my life studying sabermetrics and applying them to sports. My passion as child was to live long enough to see the Red Sox & Patriots win - obviously loved 2001 to 2018. Habs/Sox looking like they are back!
Don't think Devers would have impacted the win loss record much. Avg/OBP/SLG since June 16th are terrible. Only two guys batting above .250: Wong, & Abreu, who missed quite a few games. Some regressions are not surprising: Toro, Narvaez, Rafaela back to career norms and Story back to his May.

Runner gets 3 ft in either direction from the basepath - which is defined as a direct path from the runner to the next base one a tag is in the process of being attempted. Toro jumped & turned in air, but did not deviate at all from path he was running at all.

Not sure what metrics you are looking at? JBJ had DRS in CF of 16 in 2014, 2 in 2015 (only 224 innings), 14 in 2016, and 14 in 2017. Other than 1st year, he always had well above average fielding metrics except in limited sample his first year. See attached chart of his career from Fangraphs.

I think Laine would just drag Demidov down this year or next! On Sick Pod this week Max Lapierre said he did not like Laine 5 on 5. I could not agree more. Laine's too slow. His even strength goals per GP tied for worst of with Joel Armia! Habs need to seriously think where Laine fits 5 on 5.

In 5 secs with 3:39 to 3:34 left in 3rd, Matheson let the Flyer who was way behind him lift his stick by reaching in with one hand and missed/overskated the puck. Result was high quality chance against, a face off in Habs end at 3:34 allowing Flyers to pull goalie. Lead to all drama afterwards.

Sorry, not trying to jump all over him. No doubt his shot is world class: one of the best of all time. However, 5 on 5 he his line has given up way more goals than his team scores no matter who he plays with - since 2016! See chart I made with Corsi every year - his other adv stats are similar.

Laine's career advanced stats 5 on 5 highlight a key fact: there has never been a center that has been able to make Laine a good 5 on 5 player. Most years he is well below average! Fixing 2nd line starts with Laine!

Savard & Xjekaj on 3rd goal. Savard is going to cost them any shot at playoffs - he has been doing this on a regular basis! Are "veteran" defenseman not supposed to keep the front of the net clean? Defensive zone coverage has been a joke!

100% support your logic and rational including the Xjekaj fear and grit factor and the future factor! Made a lot more sense than reading that Struble/Guhle alternated beside Hutson at practice today on Habs website and other places. Would hate to see Struble sit the rest of the season as a 7th D.

The year to date Corsi and Fenwick numbers tell the proper story! Savard is far behind and should sit: it should definitely not be Struble who is actually leading the D in both!

It needs to be Savard. My Howie Meeker tribute: Savard on the 1st two goals last night. Savard pinches and shoots it directly at Avs player instead of getting it deep! Then Savard charges aimlessly into the corner when Xjekaj and Anderson are already there, leaving Dvorak to 2 Avs! Awful decisions!
