I placed every realistic draft prospect the Bears could take in the 1st round into different categories. Almost every option has some sort of drawback. It’s going to be interesting to see how they navigate this draft.

From 2021-2023 Sewald had an ERA of 3.04 in 188 innings. Last year was a down year with the Diamondbacks. Sewald is a great candidate to sign and then trade at the deadline to a team looking for bullpen help. An easy path for the Sox to improve farm depth.

Jansen over his career has hovered around league average as a hitter. Catcher was a big hole for them last year and Jansen gives them insurance if Miguel Amaya doesn’t work out. Jansen should will likely get a deal in the 2 year/20 million range.
