Friends: in 2 weeks, my mom & I will kick off our 4th annual Aldi Wine Advent Calendar reviews! We’re leveling up w/ the official cheese AND chocolate advent pairings. (Also, our cats get toys on even-numbered days from the Meowy Christmas advent.) Join us Dec. 1 for our demented holiday tradition.

Greg, I’m bad at math, does that mean $100 ➡️ $154 ➡️ $308? Because it seems like *any* amount could help an incredible number of schoolkids with these matching Bull City Foodraiser donations tonight

Did I…influence the new Bluebook
Am I a social media influencer now
June 13, 2025 at 4:55 PM
Weirder-ly, the online Bluebook version DOES have those things, but they’re unintuitively buried at the bottom menu on the site (along with the Preface, which is labeled “22d Ed information”).

My new Bluebook copy hasn’t come in yet, but it’s not reassuring that its taste-making editors apparently can’t be arsed to CTRL+F their own publications for cross-referencing errors that come bolded with an exclamation point

Hey law librarian-sky! I won’t be in Portland to do my usual swag hag thing at #aall25 but I may have caught a glimpse of Exhibit Halls Future with this TR bento box (includes cutlery). (Or are these #aall24 remnants?)

This local news headline perfectly captures the vibe of “snow day in North Carolina”

I understand the popularity of Époisses, yet fear my skyline is sleeping on Emmental imo

Random search result today reminded me that DEAD (just… DEAD) is a stand-alone Library of Congress Subject Heading; the results for a subject query in this EBSCO database are as wild a ride as you imagine

ADVENT 2024 FINAL: 15 reds, 8 whites, 1 rosé
ME: “Year 3 was strongest overall; past years maybe hit higher individual highs but had way more meh. Not doing the cheese advent again, though.”
MOM: “Better than last year. Happy with the amount of reds!”
Thanks for following along. Happy Holidays, all!

DAY 24: Venteux 22, Cabernet Sauvignon, France (“subtle hints of cedar & tobacco”)
ME: “Aldi gave Mom an early present with her fave, cab sauv. This is a strong finish.”
MOM: “I was so nervous it would be a white. I like it. Having with steak & scalloped oysters.”
