I can't find any info on how severe he is, ventilated or not, etc. But he would be treated in an isolation room as soon as they realized what they were dealing with. And I'm betting most staff would be scared of it and take extra efforts to protect themselves.

Once critically ill patients are ventilated, their exhaled breaths go through a viral filter. I'm sure that the medical staff are using extreme precautions and PPE. (I used to be a respiratory therapist.)
