He used to be a Sheriff. Wonder if any other rapists or pedophiles stayed free on his watch.

Your “data point” comment reminded me researchers even published a study of 590M tweets by 21M “BernieBros” & found the name to be an unfounded stereotype. It’s frustrating. (Even more so that the label endured bc it’s effective, but a constant unnecessary battle.)

I think that’s true. IIRC, a study showed those Trump voters were right-leaning in the 1st place & a small % leaned Dem. (Don’t know if they studied whether those Rs originally defected to Bernie, then back.) In contrast, in ‘08, 25% of HRC primary voters protest voted for McCain (presumably PUMAs.)

It was an exhausting & unfair label that his supporters couldn’t dispel.

If you want a deep-dive on this group, research the “BernieBro”/PUMA/Khive feud. You’ll find a huge mess of vitriol, mostly on Twitter & in opinion pieces, fueled by a few bad-faith actors & bots.

(Not yelling, lol.)

A big part of the backlash is just using the term, “Bernie Bro.” That’s a trigger because after it was coined (and not by his supporters) it was used as a reductive stereotype to paint them all as angry white guys, which dismissed the diverse women/minorities who supported him.
