AFGE Local 12, locked out of my job.
Ugh, they're literally what this country is ABOUT.

Assholes.

Why? BLS folks bring locked out of their jobs for 45 days seems like a good reason why, LOL.

There's a lot more to it. It's a complex, multi-modal data collection operation with systems that were not designed to account for missing an entire month's worth of data. It's not just a matter of picking up the phone and calling everyone. A lot of back end work while trying to not break things.

So there will be a series break on the unemployment rate for the first time in 77 years, which is bad. But employment level estimates will come out. The October numbers will just feature in the November release and will be revised again in the December release, as usual.
November 20, 2025 at 11:53 AM
There will be a release of October data from the business establishment survey. BLS can still ask employers how many people they had on payroll in October, what they can't do is ask people if they worked this month for a reference month that's passed. We will still have official data on the economy.

You will eat it until your morale reaches the threshold upon which you get no more!
November 20, 2025 at 11:42 AM
You're going to eat your means testing and you're going to like it!
November 20, 2025 at 11:06 AM
Yeah. That movie is so fucking good. SO GOOD.
November 20, 2025 at 1:10 AM
So like COMMANDO with an alternate ending?
November 20, 2025 at 1:03 AM
There's a fantastic one out right now but I feel like even suggesting it is a spoiler.

I work with federal contracts and in the front lines, ethics and taxpayer value still matter!
November 20, 2025 at 12:39 AM
Even if we were to take the idiotic abs resist rationale as valid, how can the judge reconcile this with the Citizens United decision? Money in politics is only legal when it's for my guys? Give me a fucking break!

Thank you for your dogged pursuit of the truth. Get their asses.

This reminds me of when Montgomery County, where I live, released 30 pages of documents with all text redacted when we wanted to know what they had offered Amazon for HQ2.

It's corruption, plain and simple.
November 19, 2025 at 9:37 PM
This is hogwash. If companies are making overtures for tax breaks from political figures, those should be public so competitors can make better offers to provide value to taxpayers and citizens. If you want secrecy on proprietary information, don't share it unless it's within a sealed bid.
November 19, 2025 at 9:35 PM
Get their asses.

I don't think mortality is a concept that can be understood by people who are at once incapable of empathy and introspection.
November 19, 2025 at 11:59 AM
It's refreshing to see a piece in the NYT opinion pages describing the grift in such clear and concise manner.

Corruption permeates every aspect of civilian life when normalized. Ask immigrants! Jafar Panahi's brilliant IT WAS JUST AN ACCIDENT has great examples of the casualness of corruption.

And I'm constipated. #Alanis
November 19, 2025 at 7:46 AM
I'm predicting what our insanely corrupt government will attempt to do to evade accountability and justice. You can't just hope for the best, you have to prepare your next moves.
November 18, 2025 at 9:16 PM
No shit, Sherlock.
November 18, 2025 at 9:14 PM
The bill itself already has a major loophole. Only unclassified information can be released. DOJ will come up with spurious national security reasons to withhold records—I guarantee it.

Dropping two grand to be taken to the present-day REI and some tea and crumpets.
