Saint Lucia celebrated yesterday at the 13th-century Trefaldighet Church in Uppsala. The setting and the Värmland choir beautifully reflected the history of the Lucia Day. It is a cherished Swedish tradition marking the return of light during the darkest time of the year.

Midsummer is here! We have celebrated by singing and dancing around the traditional flower-dressed pole to Swedish folk music - welcoming summer back to Sweden. This magical tradition has been around for centuries!

Swedes used to have a copy of Dr. Martin Luther’s Small Catechism - used at, and to prepare for, parish household exams. It included the Ten Commandments, and Q&A on Bible interpretation. It helped generations learn to read and shaped daily life. My family's below is from 1878. #Genealogy #Sweden
