I'm here for the same reason a lot of you are. I'm here to connect, not for rage content. Just freely meeting new people, learning about the varied lives of others to better inform myself, and be a better community member overall.
Something felt amok when that Steak N Shake dude was taking part. There's a history there between Cracker Barrel and him. It seemed like an attempt to drive their shares down for a hostile takeover.
Remember the online outrage over Cracker Barrel on Twitter? Research indicates much of it was amplified by bots. Fake accounts fueling outrage isn’t new, but most people don’t realize how often it happens.

Cracker Barrel Outrage Was Almost Certainly Driven by Bots, Researchers Say
Doesn't that make more sense than lots of people caring about Cracker Barrel?

Social hacking is annoying, at best. It's dangerous, at worst. What I call social hacking is someone attempting to get another person to do something or say something they feel uncomfortable with by trying to make them feel like they are being impolite when saying no or not engaging.

Anyone else notice that the younger folk don't seem to know how to live without CONSTANT contact? This isn't a dig. It's just kinda sad. Their expectation is to have damn near constant access to other people and they just accept damn near constant access to themselves. I feel like an important

I just gotta say this one thing that I see a lot in memes, and threads, and stuff about neurodivergents: The need to understand. And I TOTALLY get that cuz I also need to understand why I am doing whatever. That only neurotypicals get annoyed by questions. WELL, like anything else, what is

I recently expressed fear about flying south for a conference, and I was met with anger at ME... My response? Also anger. I've been asked where I'm "FROM from" one too many times in my life to not be concerned. Profiling is real.

In another episode of men say the weirdest shit, a guy said he liked my "sexy" kitty necklace.... It's a gold cat charm. That's it.

I hate when people claim to "understand" polyamory and then conveniently leave out the "amory" part. Please be quiet.

No salon seems to know how to do a fade... Or cut hair generally. So I'm going to my son's barber. I'm tired of having to shave my head cuz they fuck up so bad

Sonyah, the petitest kitty to ever petite, likes to run to the door every time I go to leave and stretches up against the door. She does her little cat chirp, as if to say, "Have a nice day!" I pat her head, she nudges my hand, and then she's good. Sweetest little ninja girl

Let's say someone breaks up with you and says,"Don't ever contact me again," and a year passes. Should you contact them? The correct answer is no. No you should not. Ok, but what if you already did it and they told you not to contact them again again. Is it ok to contact them a year after that? No.

When you go to someone to express something painful and confusing, and then they tell you "not to dwell" on something happening in real time... Invalidating someone's emotional response to things beyond their control is so.... Shitty. I think that might be

I enjoyed the ending to the final season of You. Joe Goldberg, in every season, is the total encapsulation of the ironic sentiment that men are needed to protect women from... Men. It pokes fun at societal willingness to forgo it's own stated morality for vengeance, no matter the cost. It shows that

I remember when someone told me that even though RFK was an antivax nutjob, he was still not nearly as dangerous as Trump. Well.... Behold

I'm training for a new job in a different state and normally I drive at odd hours cuz I work odd hours... Lemme tell ya something, I'm driving around doing errands and the normal traffic around here makes me wanna punch everyone AND their babies just cuz. And if they don't have babies yet, then I

Have you ever hated something and also appreciated the artistry behind the grotesque? Like, part of what makes it good art, in this one specific case, is that it's so awful? That's how I feel about The Substance. It's fucking terrible. I'll never watch it again. BUT, if it had been good, it would

My goofball son and friend when I asked to take their pictures. It was a good day.

As my wise grandmother would have said, if she was still with us, "Que Chulo! He could be a model." I agree, grandma. I heard you in my head.

Our Flag Means Death is the romantic comedy I never asked for, as I typically dislike them, but so very much needed. God I love this show!

When people say that boy children are easier than girls, I can't help side eyeing them. Are they easier? Or are you just lazier with them?

I had someone ask me what my favorite past time is and I responded that it's hanging out with my sons. "But what else?" Listen, you asked me and I told you. It's not that there aren't other things. It's that it is my favorite thing.

The amount of self proclaimed Gen X'ers who proudly list off psychopathic tendencies and motivations, in an effort to scare a whole generation raised on an Internet with very few guardrails cuz a handful of obviously trolling Gen Z'ers is really... Something. I really think they need to

Since our gov3rnment isn’t allowing us to get any health updates, I’m just operating immediately under the assumption that b1rd flu will reach us with no prior warning. N95 mask in public spaces, hand sanitizer, using cart wipes, etc. All of us should probably just preemptively do this tbh.

Reposting this with the note that vaccines work to ameliorate the risk of death and acute symptoms of covid, but do not prevent either covid or long COVID.

(I don’t want the takeaway to be that they don’t work—they do, but not as total prevention.)
This a cheat sheet for doctors & nurses who haven’t read anything about Covid in 5 years.
