The team are shortlisted in the Transforming Care for Older People category, for developing services such as a Frailty Same Day Emergency Care Unit.

We are pleased to announce that the Trust is shortlisted for NHS Communications Initiative of the Year at the HSJ Awards, after preparing 750,000 people in the local area for the opening of the Midland Metropolitan University Hospital.

Congratulations to Sana Gul, registered nurse and student midwife, who has been nominated for the Ann Shuttleworth Rising Star Award at the 2025 Nursing Times Awards.

Sana qualified as a registered nurse in the UK in 2023 and is currently in her final year of her midwifery studies.

Surgeons at the Trust have successfully performed a robotic-TAMIS surgery, the first robotic colorectal #surgery of its kind to be performed in Birmingham and the Black Country.

Transanal minimally invasive surgery (TAMIS) is a technique to remove polyps and early-stage #cancers from the rectum.

Thank you to our friends at ACT Solutions, who recently took on the Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge to raise a fantastic £510 for children in our care.

The team braved 24.8 miles, 61,000 steps, nearly 10 hours of wind and climbs to complete one of the UK’s toughest hikes.

Former NHS staff have been sharing their memories of the historic City Hospital in Birmingham, at a special alumni event held to mark the closure of the building that had been at the heart of healthcare in the city for nearly 140 years.

Patients who are having a knee or hip replacement at the Trust will now be offered Mako robotic-arm assisted surgery, with benefits such as reduced pain, better mobility and faster recovery times.

The High Sheriff of the West Midlands has officially opened what is thought to be one of the longest art galleries in a UK hospital.

On the same day The Commons Community Garden, was also opened.

Over 140 students were invited to learn about the range of jobs the NHS has to offer, at the first careers event held at the Midland Metropolitan University Hospital in Smethwick.

Students were given the chance to speak to staff and find out more about the NHS role that interested them the most.

Meet Leo - he's a critical care outreach nurse, who's also part of the team heading up the #CallForConcern service.

This service is for inpatients and their families to ask for immediate help and advice if they feel concerned about their own or their loved one's condition.

Two weeks after moving to the Midland Met, Stephen is settling in well at the new hospital.

Previously, he told us how he'd spent 50 years working at City Hospital, starting his role as a domestic aged just 16.

Our chaplains would like to welcome all patients, visitors and staff to our Spiritual Care Centre. Located on Level 5 of The Midland Met, it is open between 7am and 10pm for private prayer and meditation.

Outside of these hours, please speak to a member of staff who will accompany you.
