All woke, zero cancel. Democracy = vetting the candidate, while respecting the mandate. #franknfearless
Norris’ race was always going to be ruined by that safety car, but there was absolutely no reason for ruining Piastri’s too…

It's not the alt-right we need to worry about, it's the gullible and misinformed.

Media regulation is the only way forward... Unfortunately, I suspect it is a "day late and a dollar short" as these entities are already powerful enough to "protect their own interests at all costs".

This is a grave matter. From a Civil War perspective, this is the kind of thing that triggers conflict. Akin to the assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand triggering WW1.

This is, amazingly, an issue that has been "formally settled" a long time ago...

And yet for some reason we just can't bring ourselves to do the right thing...

That would be amusing on so many levels. Imagine his white nationalist compatriots protesting his poor access to legal representation, for example.

I'm not sure they would be self-aware enough to identify the hypocrisy, though...

The 2005 Cronulla Riots are indicative. Instigated by racists, the retaliatory attacks by the Lebanese community appeared to garner more media attention.

The radical neo-Nazis do have a strategy. They incite retaliations, and then cry crocodile tears.

What's better about it? And what do you know about my stance on Palestine?

I hate nationalism... Israel are nationalistic... Draw your own conclusions.
August 26, 2025 at 8:33 AM
A better example of gas lighting would be inferring protesters are somehow to blame for any negative sentiment for not waving/wearing Aussie memorabilia.

I can't even fathom your rationalisation for bringing it up. There shouldn't be any such expectation.
August 26, 2025 at 8:08 AM
Never seen anyone move the goalposts so quickly.

Gotta say, I’m 90% convinced at this point you’re a Populist PsyOp, using the Palestinian cause to sow discord.

If you were genuine, you would be willing to talk things through and focus on what matters.

But instead, you’re just arguing.
August 25, 2025 at 9:49 PM
This is a false equivalence. You can't "fight nationalism with nationalism". Attribute blame where the blame lies, all you're doing is throwing mud at everyone.

Tell the Nazis to get fucked... And stop the finger pointing there.

Thanks... Now I can't unsee it...

They also slam NDIS. Are you a bridge builder, or a bridge burner? Because I'm afraid to say it's starting to get quite hot in here...
August 20, 2025 at 10:57 PM
I'm not taking away that message at all.

The driver for this issue appears to be that "tweaking" the NDIS is simply too challenging, when a targeted approach should be more effective.

Would you agree with that statement?
August 20, 2025 at 10:55 PM
I'm not sure we're reading the same article. Mild to medium autism is an issue they appear to be addressing with a targeted "thriving kids" program, and an adult program is in development. The identified issue being a "disability" scheme is not an effective approach.

How is this not better?
August 20, 2025 at 10:43 PM
Probably not as much as you would imagine. We would, I imagine, agree that "something" must be done to protect content creators from unmitigated harm (tech bros should not get their way).

Where we would differ is to the scale/scope of those protective measures.
August 20, 2025 at 9:09 AM
Circling back to regulation, and yes, much work for law makers to do here. Protecting content creators using methods such as proper attribution and disallowing copyright on generated content is definitely worth pursuing.
August 20, 2025 at 3:23 AM
Regulation will, of course be a necessary component of that adaptation.

Luddites does accurately reflect the nature of much of the discourse going around.

This is not "snake waiting its tail" territory. It's our "new normal".
August 20, 2025 at 3:21 AM
There is no way for Democracy to control AI - it would require a totalitarian act.

Protectionism has long been used by radicals to justify undemocratic actions. Most notably, the Luddite movement defending textile industries.

Just as the textile industry had to change, so too will the creatives.

Aw c'mon... We could have broken ground on 3 nuclear power generators by now, and finally rid ourselves of the scourge of EVs!

And of course, the thing that matters most of all, no more Welcome to Country!

For the measly cost of a little tyrant sycophancy, we could have been living the dream!

This would force the entrepreneurs to focus on product/service quality, and rely on innovation, to maintain their wealth.

This was always the vision, and the vision continues to market itself in just this way. But we've made it too easy for them to become complacent.
August 14, 2025 at 11:01 PM
The problem isn't wealth concentration. That's just a symptom of the problem.

When you get closer to the root cause, it's easier to see that anti-competitive practices is the more likely problem.

Half of the problems could be solved by simply slashing copyright and patent time limits.

Good stuff... Big fan of the marches here.

Please don't mistake my uneasiness with the way these things are being discussed here in #auspol with opposition to these movements.

Protests are good, Zionist conspiracy theories are bad in my worldview.
August 14, 2025 at 3:30 AM
For my part, I do envy your principles. International diplomacy requires more carrot than stick. Please continue being a good carrot.

285 million people in a nation immediately to our north recently joined BRICS.

All this while one of the principal members of BRICS is pushing to normalise annexation by actually doing it.

And the middle east conflict is far too complex to package nicely into a "Zionism is to blame" box.
