He’s making a fantastic recovery in our care following surgery, and has since been introduced to one of our pools - as pictured here enjoying the water!

The incident has since been reported to Lincolnshire Police. Wildlife crime remains a serious issue, and we ask everyone to remain vigilant to help protect our wild animals.

The bird had been shot at least 16 times, with pellets found in both legs, both wings, abdomen, neck and head; a miracle the animal had survived such an ordeal. The swan remains on continued treatment here in our care, and is making a steady recovery following surgery.

We are currently receiving several calls of this type each day from all corners of the region. Thankfully, most are uninjured and can be returned to the safety of the nearest flock.

Our rescuers were able to safely and quickly contain the distressed animal with minimal stress, before taking him for further treatment. Our thanks to the kind caller who alerted us to the fox, and for her assistance in this rescue.

This youngster was rescued today from Eastoft - one of three swans we’ve rescued today in Lincolnshire alone! - after a poor landing resulted in injury. The bird is thankfully now recovering back at our base.

The lure has since been removed, and the animal provided with appropriate treatment. Our thanks to those who reported the swan to us.
