there is no reason to keep to that rule, of course. What matters is that you are writing. I have fun trying to get my lines to conform to the 5,7,5 syllables, but sometimes it just doesn't work well.

This is pretty, but I thought Haiku was 5 syllables first and last lines and 7 middle line.
