It's been a rough few months, but a wonderful highlight is my kiddo. He had prom last weekend. Tomorrow is his last day of high school. 😭 He turns 18 on Mother's Day this year. He's got a 4.0 for his senior year. I'm beyond proud. I love my Cricketbug.

Last night was my first full dose of methotrexate. It amazes me how a tiny 2.5mg tablet can make such a big difference in side effects. 6 instead of 5, and I've been asleep almost all of today. I have to remind myself that sleeping all Sat is better than taking a sick day.

It's been a weird few weeks. Normally, I dislike missing this much school due to snow. This time? Loved it. I really needed the extra time to recover emotionally from the last few months. That'll likely be a different post. In the meantime, enjoy my local forecast for the next week. I'm excited.

I've been avoiding most media the last few weeks - minus the occasional check-in or post. I just don't have it in me.
Sadly, that's what "they" are wanting. I've got to build my resistance back up, make sure I can keep an eye on shit without sobbing.

2. Last weekend, a friend's son (afab) tried to escape life and is now in recovery in the hospital. He'll have more surgeries to repair the gun damage. At least there was no brain damage.

Once upon a time, if I needed to cry, or felt the urge, it was usually accompanied by the desire to curl up in a ball in a small space somewhere - like a little safe spot.
At this point, I can teach a full class period with tears rolling down my face, if need be. (1/2)

4 years ago: I was thrilled to be getting the first dose. I've kept up with it, too, just like my flu shot. Thankfully, I've only tested positive twice since this all started 5 years ago. Pretty damn good for someone surrounded by teens all day - esp. entitled rich ones.

I spent most of my week off doing as little as possible. So, of course, I'm going to do as much as possible tomorrow - the day before I return to work. 🤷♀️ I've been this way all my life. Attempts to change have failed miserably. At least I'm predictable.

Early to mid 1980s, Spring River near Hardy, Arkansas, USA. My first fishing trip with my Paw Jim. I was hooked on catching "red bellies" after that. 🪝 I was so proud of my catch. You couldn't tell me nothin' the rest of the day. 😆 I'm grateful for the good memories that help balance the bad.
