Nonfiction books I love are Stiff by Mary Roach which talks about how cadavers are used & the science behind it. The Tuskegee Syphilis Study by Fred D. Gray is also wonderful considering the author was the lawyer that represented the group & heres covers of fictional recs cus I’m runnin out of space
Sharp Objects by Gillian Flynn—she’s one of my all time favorite authors between this and Gone Girls, I read it in like two days I could not put it down and the limited series HBO did a few years ago with Amy Adams is just as good. The Secret Place by Tana French—another one of my favorite authors and book I couldn’t put down and finished within a week. Explores girlhood and friendship and the deep bond teenagers form, had me bawling sobbing at the end I can’t stop thinking about it. Sing, Unburied, Sing by Jesmyn Ward—more of a ghost story? Southern gothic, a story of generational trauma and learning to be the one to let go, discusses racial issues in the Deep South through multiple POVs The Only Good Indians by Stephen Graham Jones—I’m sure you’ve heard of this one, another horror/ghost story that again touches on racial issues and generational cycles.
