I’m getting better at sgraffito the more I practice! I’ve been waiting to make something that would fit my luna moth sketch and this plate using a GR pottery form was perfect!

One way to ID a turkey vs a black vulture is the underside of the wings. Black vultures have light feathers only on the primary feather tips; turkey vultures have lighter feathers all along the wings + the tail feathers. I thought this would translate nicely with my new venture into sgraffito 😊

This mug had to go through 3 glaze firings due to the studio kiln having some issues with getting to cone 6 temps, but she came out looking great! Which I am very thankful for cause she was my half of a trade!

A handmade and hand painted ceramic mug. The bottom quarter of the mug has a brown glaze. Above that are yellow coreopsis flowers with red towards the base of each petal. In front of the flowers is a sitting chipmunk whose tails dips into the bottom brown glazed area. The inside of the mug is the same brown glaze which is feathered at the rim of the mug.
